Pit to pit - lay the shirt flat and measure the front from side seam to side seam, just under the arm. this measurement doubled is the chest size
Length - lay the shirt flat on it's front and measure the distance from the collar seam to the bottom hem. On a collarless shirt, measure the vertical distance from the shoulder seam closest to the neck, to the hemline.
On a long sleeve shirt, we measure the distance across the shirt between the two seams where the sleeve meets the shoulder
We measure the sleeve length from the shoulder seam to the cuff end
