2105-10-10 **MEN'S SHIRT with flat plastron
late 19th century in Linen
Men's shirt from the end of the 19th century with a flat plastron in fine white linen canvas.
The plastron is closed traditionally: with a button and bottom and three double buttonholes for the use of collar buttons (photo 1).
The cuffs are also closed with a mother-of-pearl button and then with a double buttonhole for a cufflink (photo 3).
4 flat pleats under the plastron (photo 5) and a small pleat under the yoke of the back (photo 9) ensure the ease of the garment.
As usual, the shirt is very long and the rear panel is longer than the front panel. Two slits separate them at the bottom. A small reinforcement triangle is added at the top of the slit to prevent tearing (photo 6). A discreet "LT" monogram is embroidered near the right slit.
Here are the main measures:
Neck circumference: 37 cm
flat width between shoulders: 42 cm
chest width under armholes: 52 cm
sleeve length: 55cm from shoulder to wrist
flat width of the cuffs: 12 cm
armhole width: 21 cm
total back length, from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the shirt: 99 cm
front panel 13 cm shorter than the rear panel
height of the slot between the panels: 36 cm (compared to the rear panel)
This garment is in good condition, with no particular wear.
Weight 440 gr approximately, without packaging.
