  • Condition: The two shirts are in very good condition, I have laundered these shirts and were found straight of a attic box. One shirt has stains (see close-ups) found inside cuff area and has a pin hole in sleeve. This will disappear with spot cleaning. The other is very good. Still retain its stiffness on bib, collar and cuffs.

    MEN'S BIB FRONT COLLARLESS WHITE DRESS SHIRT, 1900s, LOT OF 2
    These antique Victorian era vintage mens bib front collarless white dress shirt dates from 1900 consists of a lot of 2 shirts. It is made of a white cotton fabric. This dapper gentlemans dress shirt has a button down bib front, collarless white banded neck, long full sleeves with French cuffs, no button closures , probably used small studs.
    Each has a embroidered WIB monogram WIB stands for William Insco Buchanan, provenance in description of Buffalo, N.Y.
    The two shirt are by skirt maker Kinne and Kinne Co., Buffalo, N.Y. USA.
    APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENTS
    The shirt measures 35 inches long and a few more inches in back, with a 54 inch + 57 inch chest, 21 inch + 19 inch back, 18 inch + 18 inch neck and 24 inch +25-1/2inch long sleeve.
    CONDITION

    PROVENANCE
    Clothing from the estate of William Insco Buchanan (September 10, 1853 to October 17, 1909) who was an American diplomat.On January 26, 1894, President Grover Cleveland (the former mayor of Buffalo and governor of New York appointed Buchanan United States Minister to Argentina. Buchanan was chosen by John G. Milburn, president of the exposition, as the exposition was planned with a Latin American theme and they wanted someone who knew the South American countries well Buchanan was Director General of the Pan-American Exposition, held in Buffalo, New York from May 1 through November 2, 1901, and is credited with the construction, operation, and dismantling of the exposition. His ancestors still resides in the same home in Buffalo, New York and all clothing were stored in the attic of this ancestral home.
