Looking for a rare and fine quality vintage Swiss stopwatch to add to your collection?
Look no further as this rarely seen vintage (likely late 60's, early 70's) Minerva "Split Timer" Model 1/10 sec, 5 minute stopwatch was used (same model, not this actual stopwatch) for the 1972 Olympic swim trials and was considered the best stopwatch made at the time.
If you Google "Minerva split timer rattrapante stopwatch" you can find the same info I found on this. Look for an image provided by SteveMcKelvie.wordpress and select that image and the link with the pic. It provides some really good detail on this stopwatch. Also, when viewing images of this stopwatch online, note that one rotation on this model is 10 seconds as opposed to 60 on other models with 3 buttons (crown plus two).
With this stopwatch, you can press the left button while running and a red secondary second hand will
    stop
at that point while the main second hand continues to move. Once you have recorded that first time, you can press the left button again and the red hand will catch up with the main hand to capture the next time.
The center stem crown starts and stops the main second hand and ionce all stopped, the right button returns all to zero.
The stopwatch works beautifully and I suspect it is likely as accurate as it ever was, but if extreme accuracy is important to you, it may be indicated to to take it to a watchmaker for fine adjustment if needed. I have no way to check accuracy, but all functions cleanly and as it should.
Cosmetically, it is excellent with only minor wear to case and just a few very teensy scratches to the crystal near the center. It far from begs it, but it could likely be polished (both
    crystal
and case) to be nearly perfect. It presents wonderfully as it is, so easy enough to just leave it be.
The movement is super clean and the case has two hinged backs, one outer and one inner. Both of these case backs snap nice and tight, so if plan to open, please use care so as not to scratch the finish. When you view the back of the watch, the indents for opening each case back is just to the right of the right side button.
Case size is an impressive 57mm and weight of stopwatch is 4.8 oz.
This is a VERY rare stopwatch and the only other in eBay right now is in the UK and selling at 4.78. It is described as non-working, missing parts, for parts only and appears to be very rough (cracks in crystal) among other issues. I could find no other examples of a sold one, so can only base my price on my super nice one as compared to the parts/rough one for sale. My price could be a fraction of what it's actually worth for all I know...
Includes original box with some shelf wear and all all corners have been taped.
Shipping via USPS Priority Mail insured w/tracking to the US only is .00.
Thanks for looking and good luck to all!
